More Brazilian automakers cut or halt production amid rising Covid-19 cases, chip shortage

Volvo and Scania are the latest automakers in Brazil to halt or scale back production amid rising Covid-19 rates and supply chain disruptions, sources told Fastmarkets on Thursday March 25.

Others may follow soon, they added.
Scania - which makes trucks, buses and engines at its facility at the S??o Bernardo do Campo industrial hub in the southeastern state of S??o Paulo - will cease operations from March 26 to April 4, the company said on Monday. Operations are expected to be normalized on April 5.
