Mountain Province Finds Kimberlite at Kennady North

(IDEX Online) - Mountain Province Diamond (MPD) says it has found kimberlite in three out of four locations during a winter exploration program at its Kennady North project in Northwest Territories, Canada, on the edge of the Arctic Circle.It has released interim results on its search for new kimberlites, based on a detailed analysis of ground and airborne geophysics, kimberlite indicator minerals, geological mapping and other historical technical information.The Kennady North project covers 107,000 ha of claims and leases that completely surround the Gahcho Ku?? (C) diamond mine. MPD owns 49 per cent of the mine, the remainder is owned by De Beers Canada. Kennady North has been the focus of exploration by numerous operators since 1992.In the current exploration four out of 16 identified targets have so far been test-drilled. Kimberlite has been found at three."We began 2022 with a plan to launch an aggressive winter exploration campaign over Kennady North, and we have achieved that plan" said Mark Wall, CEO of the Canadian miner."We have discovered kimberlite in three of four targets tested to date, and completed all of our scheduled airborne and ground geophysics."Approximately 3,000 of the ongoing 6,000 meter winter drill program have been completed.
