RAPAPORT... Dominion Diamond Mines has agreed to allow Mountain ProvinceDiamonds to use its CanadaMark certification program. CanadaMark assures consumers its certified diamonds originatedin Canadian mines, and are natural and untreated. All diamonds produced under theprogram are tracked from mine to polished. Companies who buy stones from Mountain Province's share ofproduction at the Gahcho Ku?(C) mine in Canada will be able to apply for CanadaMark certification, ReidMackie, vice president of diamond marketing for Mountain Province, said lastweek. "Once they are certified, our customers can confidentlydemonstrate the Canadian provenance of their goods and use this to enhance andsupport their individual branding programs," he added. "The uniquecharacteristics of the Gahcho Ku?(C) production will help broaden the range ofcertified-Canadian goods available to consumers, and consolidate market shareof Canadian product under a consistent Canadian provenance standard."Mountain Province jointly owns the Gahcho Ku?(C) mine in partnership with De Beers.
