RAPAPORT... A new show will launch in New York in November, coveringjewelry-related topics and providing an inside look at products made, designed,produced and sold in the state. NYC Jewelry Week (NYCJW) is a seven-day experiencefeaturing educational programming, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, tours andcollaborations within the New York jewelry community, its organizers said. Oneof the exhibitions will explore how social media, especially Instagram, isgiving the public a new perspective on artists' studios. The show is the creation of Bella Neyman, an independentcurator and journalist specializing in contemporary jewelry, and JB Jones, afashion editor with a focus on jewelry. In 2017, the two co-curated Placement,the first "street art x art" jewelry exhibition. "New York City exists at an enviable intersection betweenall aspects of the jewelry world," said Erin Daily, co-founder of BrooklynMetal Works and a participant in the event. "The benefit of NYCJW is to giveall of these voices a platform. Bringing a cohesive event to New York will strengthenthe field and give the appreciators, collectors and general public anopportunity to view jewelry from a vantage point yet unseen." The fair will take place from November 12 to 18.
