Nornickel denies ship delay cited in 41% rise of US Ni premium

Nornickel has said no ship was late bringing nickel to the United States last week, refuting reports in the market that such a delay was the reason for US nickel premiums reaching new heights earlier this week.

Some sources had said that a vessel delay had triggered short covering by customers who bought nickel briquette in a 41% higher range in the week to Tuesday, November 9.

"All deliveries have been and continue to be made in accordance with existing contractual arrangements and agreed timeframes with customers," a Nornickel spokesperson told Fastmarkets on November...
