Norsk Hydro will cut foil production at its rolled products operations by about 30% by the end of 2020 in a widespread restructuring of this business segment, the Norwegian aluminium producer told Fastmarkets on Tuesday September 10.
This will include the planned closure of two foil production lines at its Grevenbroich, Germany, site, the company added.Grevenbroich, which has the capacity to produce 440,000 tonnes per year, will take down the main line and a conversion line, representing 30% of current rolled products production capacity, it said.The main line will be taken offline by the end of next year, while the conversion line - which Hydro announced the planned closure of in September 2018 - will be shut down by the end of this year.Those lines produce mainly standard commodity rolled products, the...
