NORTHERN EUROPE REBAR: Price range narrows upward on limited supplies

Prices for rebar produced and delivered in Northern Europe narrowed upward by ?,?15 per tonne over the past week as supplies tightened amid summer maintenance shutdowns at mills, sources told Metal Bulletin on Wednesday July 11.

Metal Bulletin's weekly price assessment for domestic rebar in Northern Europe was ?,?550-560 ($645-657) per tonne delivered on Wednesday, up from ?,?535-560 per tonne delivered on July 4."Demand for material is there and some mills are unable to deliver because of maintenance - it's also difficult to find truck drivers during the holiday period to make the deliveries," one distributor in the region said.Italian-owned German long steel producer Riva Stahl has completed bookings for July and has scheduled mill maintenance in August, market sources said."Demand is good and stock levels...
