NORTHERN EUROPE WIRE ROD: Good demand, shortages keep prices strong

Steel wire rod prices in Northern Europe have remained stable at high levels, with sentiment for April being upbeat on persistent shortages, good demand and limited imports, market sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday March 17.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was ?,?660-690 ($787-822) per tonne on Wednesday, stable for the past two weeks.
The assessment was based on deals and achievable prices reported by market participants over the past seven days.
Some sources reported a booking done at ?,?700 per tonne delivered to the Benelux area, but this was not widely confirmed by other market participants.
