Prices for domestic steel mesh-quality wire rod in the north of Europe were largely flat in the week to Wednesday January 20, supported by tight availability, sources have told Fastmarkets.
But market sentiment was unclear, they added, with buyers believing that prices have reached a ceiling.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for
steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was ?,?670-700 ($812-848) per tonne on Wednesday, widening downward from ?,?675-700 per tonne a week earlier.
The assessment reflected offers, deals and achievable prices reported by market participants over the past seven days.
One buyer in Germany was heard to have booked a wire rod cargo at ?,?670-680 per tonne delivered, late last week.
And a few buyers in the Benelux region were reported this week to have finalized a booking at ?,?690-700 per tonne delivered, Fastmarkets heard.
