NORTHERN EUROPE WIRE ROD: Prices climb further on tight supply

The domestic price in Northern Europe for steel wire rod increased again over the week to Wednesday December 9, supported by short supply, good demand and a jump in feedstock costs, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Northern Europe, rose to ?,?550-570 ($666-690) per tonne on Wednesday, up by ?,?10-20 per tonne from ?,?540-550 per tonne a week earlier.
The assessment was based on deals, offers and achievable prices heard in the market during the assessment week.
One source reported that a deal for a small tonnage closed at ?,?580 per tonne delivered this week, but this was not included in the assessment because it was not widely confirmed by market participants at the time of publication.
