Stability in the domestic market for steel mesh-quality wire rod in Northern Europe has continued in the week to Wednesday January 27, with prices being supported by tight availability and good order books at mills, sources have told Fastmarkets.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for
steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Northern Europe, remained at ?,?670-700 ($814-850) per tonne on Wednesday, the same as a week earlier.
The assessment reflected offers, deals and achievable prices reported by market participants over the past seven days.
Buying activity was reported to have slowed down this week with trading companies being less active in bookings.
"Trading is slower, but we are not in a big hurry," a mill source said. "We can maintain our prices, even though customers take more time to decide on bookings. Some customers have enough stock and we are comfortably booked."
