Fortune Minerals of London, Ont. Says the Northwest Territories government has signed a contract for the building of the Tlicho all weather road to the community of Whati. The village is only 50 km south of Fortune's NICO cobalt-bold-bismuth-copper mine and mill project.

Fortune will undertake the construction of a road from the mine site to Whati so that concentrates can be shipped out for processing. Concentrates from the NICO mill will be sent to the company's refinery near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The Tlicho road will be a 97-km-long, two-lane gravel road accessible year-round. The $213.8 million cost is being supplied 75% by public-private partnership (P3) headed bythe territorial government and 25% by the Canadian government.
