(IDEX Online) - One of the last diamonds recovered from the iconic Argyle mine - a 1.36-carat fancy deep pink stone - features in a ring designed for Rio Tinto, with a $1.33m price tag.The center stone is one of just 12 radiant-cut diamonds over 1.0-ct with a super-high 1P color grading, in the last 30 years of production at the mine, in East Kimberley, Western Australia, which closed in November 2020.The ring, known as the Argyle Rose, was Western Australian jeweler Solid Gold Diamonds, with an additional 1.89 carats of Argyle pink and blue diamonds in a rose motif, surrounded by 2.80 carats of white diamonds and hand-set in platinum and 18K gold. The Argyle Rose, which can also be worn as a statement pendant, has been created as part of the Argyle Pink Diamonds Icon Partner program, to preserve the provenance and integrity of the mine's famous pinks.Sinead Kaufman, chief executive of Rio Tinto Minerals said: "These rare and precious diamonds are one and a half billion years old, from one of the most beautiful places on earth, and the world is simply not producing them any more."Pic courtesy Rio Tinto
