Ontario's Government for the people is investing more than $350,000 in two agricultural companies in Cochrane and Timmins, creating or retaining five full-time jobs.

"We are committed to creating and protecting jobs and boosting local economies across Northern Ontario," said Greg Rickford, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines. "By investing in agricultural projects that stimulate growth and innovation, we are reinforcing the north's competitive advantage and sending a signal to the world that Northern Ontario is open for business and open for jobs."

Investments include:

$177,767 for Greg and Aileen Hessels in Cochrane to expand their beef cattle farm by building a new barn and purchasing equipment.$175,277 for Borealis Fresh Farms Inc. in Timmins to establish a high-tech, vertical hydroponic farm.

"Our government is protecting what matters most to the people of Ontario by investing in local agribusinesses," said Minister Rickford. "We are helping to match companies looking to hire with workers seeking opportunity and development."
