SAULT STE. MARIE - Ontario's government is supporting northern businesses through a new capacity building program, creating two full-time jobs.

Today, Ross Romano, MPP for Sault Ste. Marie, announced an $807,100 investment for the Ontario's North Economic Development Corporation (ONEDC) defence supply chain capacity building program. The program will help Northern Ontario businesses diversify into the defence industry by giving them the expertise and training to secure defence certifications and compete for procurement contracts.

"Our government is fighting for the people of Ontario by investing in opportunities that enhance the competitiveness of northern businesses," said MPP Romano. "By supporting and training companies interested in supplying the defence industry, we are sending a strong signal that Northern Ontario is open for business and open for jobs."

"Ontario is supporting northern businesses through our defence supply chain capacity building program," said John Febbraro, director of ONEDC. "This investment is helping ONEDC undertake an important initiative to strengthen Northern Ontario's economy and create jobs."
