CARLING - Ontario's Government for the People is connecting residents and businesses in the Township of Carling by supporting the construction of a new community centre and commercial kitchen.

Norman Miller, MPP for Parry Sound-Muskoka, announced a $968,000 investment to build a multi-purpose centre to host community activities and private functions.

The 9,443-square-foot facility will host family gatherings, conferences, business functions and serve as an emergency shelter. In addition, the fully licensed commercial kitchen will help support training and host larger events. The Township of Carling was without a multi-use facility since the former community centre was condemned and demolished in 2017.

"Our government is proud to support the community of Carling in creating a modern, multi?EUR'purpose centre that will enhance quality of life for people and businesses in the area," said MPP Miller. "This investment provides a much-needed space in which to gather and host special events."

"Ontario's Government for the People is committed to helping smaller, northern communities improve their local economies," said Greg Rickford, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines. "We commend the Township of Carling and its partners for developing this multi-use centre that will serve residents for years to come."

"We thank the province for helping us construct a new community centre for our residents and businesses," said Mike Konoval, Mayor of the Township of Carling. "This new facility is a very important part of our efforts to boost the local economy and provide a modern venue to attract events, conferences and business functions."
