PDAC 2018 Descends On Toronto This Weekend; Here Is What To Expect

(Kitco News) - This year’s Prospectors &Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention, known as the mammoth of allmining conferences, is promising to be busier than ever, with more than 24,000 attendeescoming from 130 different countries to exchange ideas and network.

The event will take place fromMarch 4 to March 7 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, which will mark the86th year for the convention.

“The PDAC convention is ourlargest industry event and provides mineral and mining professionals, as wellas investors, analysts, geologists, executives, government officials andstudents, access to an array of programming, short courses, presentations andnetworking opportunities,” said PDAC President Glenn Mullan.

The conference will keepattendees on a tight schedule, with more than 400 presenters discussing thelatest trends in mining.

Here is the rundown of some ofthis year’s top events to attend at the convention:

- The International MinesMinisters Summit will see mining ministers from around the world gather in onelocation for a third year in a row.

- Keynote session will feature anIndustry Review - Lessons For The Future.

- Best-selling author A. GaryShilling will host the mineral-outlook luncheon, discussing “the outlook forminerals and metals in a world where the supply of almost everything exceedsdemand.”

- Anaconda Mining Inc willshowcase a virtual-reality experience, giving participants a 3D feel of whatit’s like in an open pit or an underground mine as well as a processing plant.

- Kirwin Collection will be ondisplay at the Trade Show North, featuring stunning minerals on loan from theRoyal Ontario Museum.

- Robots will also be present atthe event, with the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase demonstrating newtechnologies and doing live presentations.

- The Royal Canadian Mint will bein Exhibitor’s Hall showing off its new gold and silver investment bullioncoins and bars. Those interested in purchasing something will be able to choosefrom collectors’ coins and a set of silver coins.
