(IDEX Online) - The Perth Mint has released the "Jewelled Tiger," the third release from its range of diamond-studded coins showcasing mythical and real animals from Asia. The tiger is pav?? (C) set with almost three carats of fancy vivid intense pink diamonds from the Argyle diamond mine.

The coin is made from 10oz of 99.99% pure gold. The tiger, which has two vibrant green Columbian Muso Emeralds for the eyes, is sculpted from 18-karat rose gold.

The design is headed by the inscription THE JEWELLED TIGER and includes the Chinese character for "tiger."

Only eight of these coins will be released, a number significant in Asian cultures where it is associated with luck and prosperity. Each coin will be presented in a display case with 18-karat gold furnishings inset with two additional Argyle pink diamonds.

Each coin costs AU$259,000 ($179,000).

Previous animal coins include the 2018 Jewelled Phoenix and the 2019 Jewelled Dragon.
