Peru extends coronavirus lockdown to April 26; copper, zinc mines stay closed

The Peruvian government has extended the national state of emergency by two weeks to April 26 in an attempt to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the country.

President Mart?-n Vizcarra announced the extension to the lockdown on Wednesday April 8. It was first declared on March 15.
In Peru, 4,342 people had tested positive for Covid-19 by the time of publication, and 121 people have died from the disease. This is up from 2,954 infected people on Monday.
