(Kitco News) - The National Institute ofStatistics and Informatics of Peru (INEI) announced today that the domesticmining and hydrocarbons sector increased by 11.07% in September 2021 comparedto the same month of 2020.

INEI said that this positiveresult was driven by higher output recorded in the domestic metallic miningsubsector (12.32%), which was influenced by higher production volumes ofmolybdenum (23.9%), gold (20.2%), copper (17.5%), silver (3.7 %) and tin (2.8%).

However, INEI added that thisincrease was offset by a decline in iron ore output (-18.4%), as well as lowerlead (-8.5%) and zinc (-3.2%) production.

According to the report, thedomestic hydrocarbons subsector expanded 4.02% due to a greater extraction ofcrude oil (41.6%), whereas the level of extraction of natural gas liquids(-4.2%) and natural gas (-5.4%) decreased.
