RAPAPORT... Petra Diamonds has suspended all mining at its Williamson deposit in Tanzania pending an investigation into a burst wall at its tailings facility that resulted in a flood. The eastern wall of a storage facility where the company keeps ore that has already been processed gave way Monday morning, with the flooding extending out of the mine lease area, Petra said. Williamson's management, government officials, and mine emergency response teams are on site checking the damage and working to keep nearby community members away from the affected area. So far, no deaths or injuries have been confirmed.A team led by the company's CEO is en route to the site to provide support while an investigation into the breach takes place. Petra did not indicate when production at the mine would resume, but noted it would provide further information when available.Image: The Williamson mine. (Petra Diamonds)
