POLAND REBAR: Local mills push for price increases despite seasonal slowdown

Domestic steel rebar producers in Poland increased their prices as expected in the week to Friday July 24, although so far buyers have been reluctant to accept the new levels, sources told Fastmarkets.

Buying activity started to slow this week due to the onset of the vacation season, sources said.
The construction sector was still performing well in the country, but even however, things began to slow because of seasonal factors as well.
"Construction is [performing] OK, but slightly slower due to the vacation [season]," one trader said.
Nevertheless, the country's major rebar producers announced higher prices this week, citing higher output costs and strong demand.
"In Poland, we have seen price increases this week. Celsa [Huta Ostrowiec] raised its prices by 50 zloty per tonne for 12 mm rebar to 1,970 zloty per tonne [ex-works], making it the most expensive," a source told Fastmarkets.
