POLAND REBAR: Prices expected to soften on weaker scrap market

Poland's rebar producers were still holding back March rolling volumes during the week to Friday January 29, while buyers were expecting prices to soften on the scrap market downturn, sources told Fastmarkets.

Most rebar producers in Poland were said to have sold out of February rolling rebar at average prices of 2,900-3,000 ($772-799) zloty per tonne ex-works and were yet to announce new prices, market participants told Fastmarkets.
"Mills are generally sold out for February, so they don't give any new prices. I assume by mid-February there will be new prices for March," one trader said.
Even though producers were previously determined to push for increases, the recent downturn in scrap prices internationally and in Europe has "interfered with their plans," a source said.
