Domestic steel rebar prices in Poland were stable in the week to October 9, despite a slowdown in buying activity, with producers reluctant to cut prices due to short supplies, sources told Fastmarkets on Friday.

Buying activity in Poland slowed down after widespread restocking last week, they added.
Customer were asking for lower prices due to a decline in scrap costs, but producers would not budge.
"Demand is weak, but... supply is also [short] and imports are not workable," a buyer said.
The continuing good performance of the key rebar-consuming construction sector was also supporting prices.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), domestic, exw Poland, was unchanged at 2,000-2,050 zloty ($524-537) per tonne on October 9.

In the secondary market, rebar was trading around 1,990-2,020 zloty per tonne delivered over the past week, depending on the quantity, widening from 1,990-2,000 zloty per tonne last week.
