POLAND REBAR: Prices steady, rises unlikely as demand starts to cool

Domestic steel rebar prices in Poland were largely stable in the week to Friday October 16, with buyers skeptical about new price rises, expecting instead that demand from end-user sectors would slow down on seasonal factors, sources have told Fastmarkets.

During the assessment week, buying activity in Poland's rebar market was reported to be only moderate, sources said.
"The restocking [drive] is over and the market is on standby," one trading source said.
"Construction is still stable but [demand from that sector] will probably cool off in the coming months," a second trader said.
The short supply of rebar in the market and the limited availability of imports were two factors supporting prices.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), domestic, exw Poland, remained at 2,000-2,050 zloty ($516-529) per tonne on October 16, unchanged since October 2.

One local producer was said to be offering rebar at 2,100 zloty per tonne ex-works,...
