Fastmarkets has modified the name of one of its Japan steel scrap export prices to reflect the product's usage in the market.
Heavy scrap (HS) is a grade of obsolete scrap traded widely in the Japan and South Korea market, used for material of equivalent quality to plate and structural (P&S).
Fastmarkets' price assessment for Japan export HS had previously been named
steel scrap, plate and structural, export, fob main port Japan.
But this material is commonly known in the market as HS, and is not referred to as P&S, so Fastmarkets has changed the name of this price to fit popular market naming conventions.
The new price name is shown below in bold:
MB-STE-0877 Steel scrap heavy scrap (HS) export, fob main port Japan, ? per tonne
Formerly: MB-STE-0877 steel scrap, plate and structural, export, fob main port Japan
There are no changes to the specifications of the assessment.
