Purepoint completes initial fieldwork at Hook Lake

Purepoint Uranium Group says it has finished the initial fieldwork at the Hook Lake joint venture. The project lies on the southwest edge of the Athabasca Basin in the Patterson uranium district, between Fission's Triple R deposit and NexGen's Arrow deposit.

Hook Lake is owned jointly by Cameco Corp. (39.5%), Orano Canada (39.5%) and Purepoint Uranium Group (operator and holder of a 21% interest).

Winter drilling tested the Spitfire deposit at depth, confirmed the continuation of the Dragon zone to the north, identified geophysical targets between Spitfire and Dragon, and initiated drilling along the Derkson corridor.

Hole HK19-101 targeted the spitfire shear zone below HK15-27 that returned 2.2% uranium oxide over 28 metres including 12.9% over 0.4 metre. This year's hole was off-target, said Purepoint, but modeling the zone indicates the zone deserves more drilling.

Six widely spaced holes were drilled north of the previous Dragon zone drilling. The best hole, HK-19-105 had radioactive readings from 524 to 1,000 cps in five short intersections between 438.5 to 593.4 metres downhole. Hole -107, also at Dragon, had a reading of 732 cps over 0.7 metre beginning at 426.8 metres downhole.

Purepoint drilled six holes in the Derkson corridor, but they did not encounter notable alteration or structures within the basement rocks. However, historic drilling produced evidence of unconformity related mineralization, so Derkson and a gravity low 1.0 km to the west remain potential targets.
