Bonhams will spotlight a rare square-cut, 5.03-carat,fancy-pink, VS1-clarity diamond as well as a tiara owned by the family ofWinston Churchill, at the auction house's fine-jewelry sale in London in lateSeptember. "It is extremely unusual to find a pure pink diamond, ofeven saturation, with no secondary component colors, weighing over 5 carats,"said Emily Barber, Bonhams UK director of jewelry. The auctioneer valued thestone (pictured) at approximately $777,380 to $1 million (GBP 600,000 to GBP 800,000). Also going on sale is a fancy-colored, three-stone diamondring, featuring an old-brilliant-cut, 0.95-carat, fancy-blue center stone,surrounded by two marquise-cut, 0.51-carat and 0.56-carat, fancy-yellow-orangediamonds. The presale estimate for the piece is about $103,650 to $155,480 (GBP80,000 to GBP 120,000). Other notable pieces include two diamond tiaras: ageometric, Art Deco tiara/necklace/brooch combination by Hennell, belonging tothe Churchill family and estimated at approximately $51,830 to $77,740 (GBP40,000 to GBP 60,000), and a Belle ??poque tiara designed by Spanish royaljeweler Ansorena in the Greek meander style. The headpiece, which belonged tothe countess of Villagonzalo, has an estimated selling price of around $103,650to $155,480 (GBP 80,000 to GBP 120,000). Jewelry from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, andChopard will also go under the hammer, including a diamond necklace by Cartiercarrying a presale estimate of about $259,130 to $388,690 (GBP 200,000 to GBP300,000). The London Fine Jewellery sale will take place on September26.
