Recycled aluminium could meet 50% of demand for the metal by 2050, according to the International Aluminium Institute (IAI).
In new data released on Tuesday May 25, the IAI reported a record 20 million tonnes of post-consumer scrap intake in 2019, representing nearly 60% of total scrap intake and equivalent to saving 300 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions."Aluminium demand is expected to increase by about 80% in 2050 and the IAI forecasts that recycled aluminium could meet half of that demand.
