Retail and FOMC Headline Second Week of December

Kicking off the second week of December is a slightly lighter batch of earnings, with retail at the forefront yet again. Big names like Stitch Fix (SFIX), American Eagle Outfitters (AEO), Children's Place (PLCE), Lululemon Athletica (LULU), and Tailored Brands (TLRD) make up a large portion of the list, as well as tech names Broadcom (AVGO) and Adobe (ADBE). A speech from New York Fed President John Williams is expected on Friday, while earlier in the week we will hear from Fed Chair Jerome Powell, after the Fed wraps up its two-day policy deciding meeting on Wednesday.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

There's no economic data for Monday, Dec. 9. However, earnings will feature Adobe, Casey's General (CASY), Stitch Fix, and Toll Brothers (TOLL). On Tuesday, Dec. 10, earnings will be heard from AutoZone (AZO), Conn's (CONN), Dave & Buster's (PLAY), Designer Brands (DBI), GameStop (GME), HD Supply (HDS), and Ollie's Bargain Outlet (OLLI). Meanwhile, the Federal Open Market Committee kicks off its meeting.

For Wednesday, Dec. 11, weekly crude inventories and the consumer price index (CPI) come out. Plus, the Fed's latest policy announcement and a press conference from Powell are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., ET, respectively. Meanwhile, American Eagle Outfitters, Children's Place (PLCE), LULU, TLRD, United Natural Foods (UNFI), and Vera Bradley (VRA) will report earnings.

Weekly jobless claims and the producer price index (PPI) will be revealed Thursday, Dec. 12. Taking a turn in the earnings confessional will be Broadcom, Ciena (CIEN), Costco (COST), and Oracle (ORCL).

Friday, Dec. 13, is a busy day on the economic front, with retail sales, business inventories, and import prices on the schedule. Plus, New York Fed President John Williams will speak. There are no notable earnings slated.
