Rio Tinto and Slovakia-based battery company InoBat have signed a memorandum of understanding to accelerate the establishment of a battery manufacturing and recycling value chain in Serbia, the United Kingdom-listed miner said.
The partnership will cover the full commodity life-cycle of lithium from mining through to recycling, it noted.The agreement comes at the same time as Rio Tinto is poised to make an investment decision on its Jadar project in Serbia, one of the largest greenfield lithium projects in development.
