Rising global benchmark prices support China's cobalt sulfate, tetroxide prices

The continuing upward trend in global standard-grade cobalt benchmark prices is inspiring optimistic sentiment across the market and supporting domestic cobalt sulfate and tetroxide prices in China, sources told Fastmarkets this week.

Renewed demand in Europe since the middle of June led to an increases in international cobalt benchmark prices and has revived bullish sentiment, leading to a new round of increase in cobalt prices in China.
Fastmarkets' price assessment for cobalt, standard grade, in whs Rotterdam, was $21.00-21.90 per lb on Thursday. This was up from $20.80-21.50 per lb on Wednesday and up from 19.8-20.50 per Ib on June 11 when prices began to rise.
