The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) has hired Brad Brooks-Rubin as strategic adviser and North America engagement lead.In his new role, Brooks-Rubin will be responsible for advancing policy and deepening connections between international policy makers, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and RJC member companies, the organization said Wednesday.He will also continue as senior adviser at The Sentry, an investigative and policy team that seeks to exclude war profiteers in east and central Africa from international financial systems, RJC explained. Brooks-Rubin was previously director of global development and beneficiation at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and served as a special adviser for conflict diamonds with the US Department of State."[Brad] is highly regarded for his multi-stakeholder expertise and has a proven track record of successfully connecting policy makers, NGOs, industry and the broader community," said RJC executive director Iris Van der Veken.
