(IDEX Online) - Christie's New York is to sell a collection of 32 watches owned by Sir Elton John, as part of a unique home clearance.The 76-year-old Rocketman singer is auctioning the contents of his home on Peachtree Road, Altanta, USA, (after which he named his 2004 album) in a series of eight sales. John, one of the top-selling solo artists of all time, is a passionate watch collector. Lots include 13 Cartier watches, five Chopards, four Hublots, two Audemars Piguets and two Franck Mullers.Among the highlights of his collection is a leopard print Rolex Daytona with diamonds and orange sapphires (estimate $40,000 to $60,000), a Cartier Crash in 18ct gold with a silvered dial (estimate $70,000 to $100,000) and a unique Chopard chronograph, with white diamonds and a pair of skulls (estimate $10,000 to $15,000).The Collection of Sir Elton John: Goodbye Peachtree Road also features one of the largest private collections of photography in the world, as well as 19th-century sculptures and crucifixes, contemporary art glass and Versace silk shirts.The sales, in New York and online, take place from 9 to 28 February.Pics courtsey Christie's
