Domestic flat steel prices in Russia's Central Federal district around Moscow were broadly stable in the week to July 13 while market participants were skeptical about mills' attempts to increase prices, citing insufficient demand, sources told Fastmarkets on Monday.
Buying activity in the sheet steel market in the region remained moderate over the assessment week, with prices being unchanged, sources said.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for
steel hot-rolled sheet, domestic, cpt Moscow, Russia was 39,500-41,000 roubles ($559-580) per tonne on July 13, including 20% VAT, stable week on week.
The assessment was based on offers and deals heard in the market.
Offers for July rolling from Severstal were heard at 40,500 roubles per tonne, sources said, while Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) and Novolipietsk Steel (NLMK) were targeting even higher prices - offering HRC at 41,000 roubles per tonne cpt, sources said.
