Russia's MMK set to increase HRC shipments to spot market

Russia's Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) may increase its supply of hot-rolled coil (HRC) to the spot market if it restarts the melting shop at MMK Metalurji in Turkey, Metal Bulletin has heard.

"If they [restart the melting shop and the strip mill], then they will sell more [HRC] in the Middle East-North Africa market and maybe in Asia," a trader who works with MMK told Metal Bulletin.He added that the company may also increase its shipment volumes to the Russian domestic market.MMK refrained from commenting at the time of publication."We are very close to a decision to relaunch our steelmaking and hot-rolling capacities [in Turkey]," MMK's director for economics said...
