Brazilian iron ore pellet producer Samarco expects to produce 7.5 million tonnes of iron ore pellets in 2021, according to Rodrigo Franklin, the company's head of business intelligence.
Franklin was speaking in Fastmarkets' Global Iron Ore online conference on Wednesday March 17 when he provided an update on mining operations at the Brazilian mining site. The company's operations resumed in December 2020 and are being gradually restarted after a disastrous failure in 2015.Around 35-40% of the 7.5 million tonnes of iron ore pellets produced will be of direct-reduced iron (DRI) grade and the remainder will be blast furnace (BF) pellets, but this ratio will depend on market demand and will probably be adjusted accordingly,...
