The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has finally located Vancouver's Douglas Roe, serving him with civil charges for an attempted eco-tourism listing. The SEC presented him with the documents while he attended a golf tournament in California. Mr. Roe now has 21 days to respond to the case.

The allegations against Mr. Roe stem from an attempt at listing a company called Blue Mountain Eco Tours Inc. The SEC claims that Mr. Roe employed a Jamaican resident to serve as the company's figurehead as he attempted to have the stock registered in the United States. The problem, according to the SEC, was that the company's filings overstated its business while failing to disclose that Mr. Roe was behind the stock.

The SEC filed the case eight months ago, but the matter had been stalled while the regulator attempted to locate Mr. Roe. The regulator initially tracked him to an address in Coal Harbour, 1111 Alberni St. (At that address is the Shangri-la building, a 62-storey tower.) A deputy sheriff spoke with the concierge and determined that Mr. Roe no longer lived there. The sheriff did obtain a phone number for Mr. Roe, which he called. The sheriff met no success, however. According to a service affidavit, Mr. Roe was evasive and used abusive language.

"......social media"

Yes, indeed. In many cases, it's about as useful as a social disease, lol.

However, in this case, the SEC probably thanks him. At 5:57 a.m., you wonder if he was pulling a Trump (early morning tweets) and the SEC used GPS to track his location.
