Shandong, Jiangsu face 13-day environmental probes for SCO summit

SHANGHAI, May 25 (SMM) – To improve air quality and regulate pollution for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Qingdao, Shandong province, environmental protection authorities in Shandong and Jiangsu will undertake inspections from May 30-June 11. All of Shandong province will subjected to the probes while just Xuzhou and Lianyungang in Jiangsu will be affected. 

The effort will target cities near Qingdao, such as Yantai, Weifang, Rizhao and Linyi in Shandong province, as well as Xuzhou and Lianyungang in Jiangsu province.

Authorities will monitor the implementation of production limitations across steelmakers, coking plants, cement plants and plants that release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during production.
