Sideways US trade buoys scrap export tags

A Turkish mill has returned to the United States deep-sea ferrous scrap market paying a $5-per-tonne increase compared with the last US sale amid sideways trending domestic prices for cut and shredded scrap.

An East Coast exporter sold a cargo to Turkey comprising 22,000 tonnes of an 80:20 mix of No1 and No2 heavy melting scrap and 8,000 tonnes of shredded scrap priced at $448 per tonne cfr and $463 per tonne cfr respectively, Fastmarkets learned on Wednesday October 6. The cargo is due to be shipped in the second half of November. This compares with the last-reported US sale on October 1 in which an East Coast exporter sold HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $443 per tonne cfr and shredded scrap for $458 per tonne cfr.
