RAPAPORT... Signet Jewelers has launched a custom-jewelry design hub at a number of its Jared stores across the US, allowing its customers to create one-of-a-kind pieces easily. The Jared Foundry will be located inside 19 of the jeweler's locations, including in New York, California, Texas, and its hometown of Ohio, the company said Tuesday. Customers will work with one of Jared's 1,400 artisans and apprentices in-store or through a virtual appointment, who will ask them a series of questions to determine what type of design will suit them best."People love personalizing seemingly everything these days, and we believe now is the time to let them experience the exhilarating world of fine-jewelry design," said Bill Brace, executive vice president and executive general manager at Jared. The store-within-a-store concept will also be experiential, enabling customers to watch artisans resizing rings, setting diamonds, sketching pieces, and using wax molds, Jared noted. The company intends to expand the Jared Foundry to other stores in the future.Image: A Jared artisan working on a piece of jewelry. (Jared)
