Sotheby's will offer a selection of items from its New York Magnificent Jewels auction at a special online sale in June, after the coronavirus put the live event in jeopardy.Some pieces originally consigned for that sale, as well as for the New York Fine Jewels auction, are now set to go under the hammer from June 9 to 16. They will feature in the Important Jewels online auction together with newly sourced goods, the auction house told Rapaport News.Other jewelry items that were to be a part of those live sales will be held and offered at the live Important Jewels auction in October, as well as the Magnificent Jewels sale in December.The New York Magnificent Jewels sale is currently slated to take place June 9, after being postponed from its original April date, but the coronavirus has raised questions about whether it can happen. Some of the items that are due to be offered at the auction include a 3.67-carat, fancy-intense blue diamond ring, estimated at $2.5 million to $3.5 million, and a Kashmir sapphire and diamond bracelet by Cartier from the 1960s. That piece has a presale value of $750,000 to $1 million.The auction house's Paris jewelry sale is scheduled for June 10, while the Geneva Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels sale is set to take place June 30.
