Sothebys Appoints Jewellery Head for Asia

(IDEX Online) - Sotheby's has appointed Wenhao Yu as its deputy chairman, Jewellery, Asia.

Based in Hong Kong, Yu will be responsible for developing the auction house's jewelry business across Asia.

Yu has a background in finance. He studied at Sotheby's Institute of Art in London before joining

Poly Auction Beijing in 2010 as senior manager where he co founded its Jewels and Watches department. 

In his previous role, Yu was deputy general manager and head of Jewels and Prestige Collection Department at Poly Auction Hong Kong, which he founded in 2013.

"Our Jewellery team will benefit immensely from his extensive business connections,

profound industry experience, as well as his outstanding track record," said Kevin Ching, CEO of Sotheby's Asia. "Wenhao will be a great addition to the team as we continue to strengthen our expertise and sourcing capabilities to meet the fast-growing interest and demand from the region."
