South America's HRC, CRC import prices fall as China loses deals to other regions

Import prices for hot-rolled coil and cold-rolled coil (HRC, CRC) into South America have fallen in the week ended Friday October 18, with producers from many regions competing for clients.

Offers from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Brazil, Japan and China reached South American buyers at lower levels than last week.Fastmarkets assessed the price for steel HRC, import, cfr main ports South America, at $450-475 per tonne on October 18, down from $460-480 per tonne a week before.The assessment for steel CRC, import, cfr main ports South America, fell to $495-525 per tonne on the same day, from $525-545 per tonne previously.HRC offers from China were heard in South America at $470-475 per tonne cfr, while CRC could be acquired for $520 per tonne cfr, or less than that...
