SOUTH ASIA STEEL SCRAP: Market anticipates change in direction

Prices of steel scrap imported into India and Pakistan were largely unchanged in the week to Friday January 15 as sentiment sours on a possible market softening, sources told Fastmarkets.

India
Fastmarkets calculated the steel scrap, shredded, index, import, cfr Nhava Sheva, India at $480.38 per tonne on Friday, compared with $479.33 per tonne a week previous.
Offers this week ranged from $480 to $485 per tonne, unchanged from last week, while deals were heard concluded mid-week at $475-478 per tonne, compared with a deal heard at $470 per tonne last week.
