Southeast Asia's billet prices largely stable on thin trading

Import prices for steel billet in Southeast Asia remained firm on Thursday August 2 amid slow trading activity and muted demand.

Metal Bulletin's daily price assessment for billet imports to Southeast Asia was $545-550 per tonne cfr Manila on Thursday, narrowing upward from $540-550 per tonne cfr a day earlier.The frequency of the assessment was increased from weekly to daily starting on Wednesday. Prices will now be assessed for 120-150mm billet on a cfr Manila, Philippines, basis, with prices at other Southeast Asian ports to be normalized.Metal Bulletin's latest weekly assessment for billet stood at $540-550 per tonne cfr Southeast Asia for the week ended Monday July 30.Numerous bookings were heard made to the Philippines at $545-550 per tonne cfr for October-shipment billet from a major supplier...
