SOUTHERN EUROPE REBAR: Prices move up on higher scrap costs, returning demand

Domestic prices for rebar in Southern Europe have narrowed upward over the past week, on higher scrap costs and the return of market participants from seasonal holidays, sources told Metal Bulletin on Wednesday January 10.

Metal Bulletin's weekly domestic price assessment for Southern European rebar rose to ?,?520-530 ($621-633) per tonne delivered on Wednesday, from ?,?505-530 per tonne on January 3."Scrap costs are up, and demand is not too bad, now that people are returning to work," a Southern European producer source said.Metal Bulletin's daily index for Northern European HMS 1&2 (80:20) ferrous scrap closed at $366.20 per tonne cfr Turkey on January 10, up week-on-week from $361.62 per tonne on January 3.Export prices widen upwardExport prices for Southern...
