SOUTHERN EUROPE REBAR: Prices widen down as mills aim to maintain current level

Prices for rebar produced and delivered in Southern Europe widened downwards this week as domestic mills aimed to maintain current price levels, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday July 3.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for domestic rebar in Southern Europe was ?,?485-500 ($548-565) per tonne delivered on Wednesday, down ?,?5 per tonne week on week on the lower end from ?,?490-500 per tonne on June 26."There is strong competition among Spanish mills and so the pressure on prices is higher here - they are fighting for tonnes," a market participant in Spain said."From July 15, it is the holiday season, so everyone  is focusing on completing deliveries - no one is really thinking of buying material...
