SOUTHERN EUROPE WIRE ROD: Prices jump on material shortages

Steel wire rod producers in the south of Europe increased their prices sharply in the week to Wednesday December 2, amid a shortage of material and increasing rolling costs, sources have told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Southern Europe, was ?,?510-520 ($612-624) per tonne on Wednesday, up by ?,?20-25 per tonne from ?,?490-495 per tonne a week before.
The assessment reflected deals, offers and achievable prices heard in the market over the past week.
