SOUTHERN EUROPE WIRE ROD: Prices static despite slower buying

The price of mesh-quality steel wire rod has been broadly stable in Southern Europe over the past week, despite reduced buying activity caused by growing uncertainty over further Covid-19 lockdowns in the region.

Short supplies and good producer order books were supporting prices, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday October 28.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Southern Europe, was unchanged at ?,?470-485 ($555-573) per tonne on Wednesday.
Italy
In Italy, wire rod was mainly trading at ?,?470-480 per tonne delivered this week, unchanged week on week.
The buying activity was reported to be slower this week due to growing concerns over the likelihood of new lockdowns in the country.
